MainSky Asset Management chairman Eckhard Schulte said in a report that Fed chair KEVIN WARSH's avoidance of any form of forward guidance makes it extremely difficult for markets to form coherent policy expectations. Schulte said the resulting heightened uncertainty would weigh on equities, long-dated bonds and the dollar. He added WARSH has been clear the Fed is serious about its 2% inf target and intends to achieve it, but has not provided a coherent explanation for rejecting three dissenting members who advocated rate hikes.

The World Gold Council's Q2 2026 Global Gold Demand Trends report, released July 30, shows China market gold demand (jewellery, bars, gold ETFs and industrial) totaled 155 tonnes, down 41% YoY — the weakest Q2 since 2022. Jewellery demand fell 28% YoY and gold ETFs recorded net outflows of 22 tonnes, the primary drivers of the decline; consumer jewellery spending remained elevated despite lower volumes.
