Trump's 60-day waiver lands. India's Textile Exporters Say They Already Moved on
The US has put a 60-day hold on the sanctions provisions that could have hit Indian buyers of Russian oil with tariffs of up to 100%. President Donald Trump waived the key provisions under the Lindsey O Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act, the Times of India reported, putting the proposed duties on hold.
The timing was not lost on exporters. The Economic Times headlined its coverage "Christmas cheer, but caution remains."
Secretary of State Marco Rubio, defending the decision, called India "an important ally" and said New Delhi had diversified its import sources but could not "pivot in one day" (Hindustan Times). Per the same report, the paused regime could have applied to India and four other nations.
One number now circulating is far more specific than anything in the official record. An X post by @Sanjay_Sriv, an account with roughly 4,300 followers, says leading Indian textile exporters cut direct US exposure from 85% to 40% in 15 months. No report reviewed for this article c
