Having opened and managed multiple accounts with Questrade over the years, I’ve learned that their deposit and withdrawal process is quite streamlined, though not as varied as some global forex brokers. For funding, Questrade currently supports Visa Debit, Interac e-Transfer, bank transfer (bill payment), and electronic funds transfer (EFT). Deposits via Visa Debit and Interac are often instant—something I’ve found incredibly convenient when I needed to transfer funds quickly, provided the daily bank limits allow. Bank transfers and EFTs tend to take about 1–2 business days based on my experience. When it comes to withdrawals, Questrade allows you to withdraw via electronic funds transfer, and there are no withdrawal fees on their part. They process withdrawal requests directly to your bank, which means the speed depends partly on your banking institution but, in most cases, is completed within five business days. In my own practice, I’ve found this system to be reliable if not the fastest in the industry. However, Questrade does not support credit card funding, nor do they accept PayPal, Skrill, or any form of cryptocurrency. For traders used to those rapid or alternative payment systems, this is an important limitation to keep in mind. The focus here seems to be on secure, regulated banking channels, which aligns with Canadian regulatory expectations but sacrifices some flexibility that offshore brokers might offer. For me, this trade-off increases the trust factor but can be less convenient for those seeking instantaneous or more varied funding options.
Based on my direct experience and careful evaluation, Questrade does not currently allow the use of Expert Advisors (EAs) or any other form of automated trading via popular platforms like MetaTrader (MT4/MT5), as these are not supported. The available trading platforms—such as Questrade Trading, QuestMobile, Questrade Edge, and Questrade Global—are proprietary and do not provide compatibility with third-party automated trading software. For me, as someone who occasionally relies on EAs for backtesting and automating specific strategies, this is a considerable limitation. Questrade’s focus seems to be on manual trading and longer-term investing across a broad range of instruments, which may appeal to those who prioritize security and regulatory oversight, given their CIRO regulation in Canada. However, for forex traders or those who rely heavily on EAs to execute complex or high-frequency strategies, this restriction can impact flexibility and efficiency. My attempts to automate trades or implement algorithmic systems were hindered by this limitation, which influenced my overall assessment of their suitability for active, algorithmic trading styles. Therefore, while Questrade may serve manual traders and investors well, those seeking robust EA support should be aware of this gap and consider it carefully against their trading needs.
As someone actively trading forex with a personal focus on costs and order execution, I pay close attention to the type and behavior of spreads offered by a broker. Questrade operates as a market maker, and it provides variable (floating) spreads rather than fixed spreads for its forex products. Typically, their spreads begin from 0.08 pips, which can be competitive in normal market conditions. However, I’ve found that with any broker using variable spreads—including Questrade—the cost of trading can change rapidly during volatile periods. When significant news events occur, spreads at Questrade can widen noticeably. This is common across the industry, as market makers and liquidity providers widen spreads to manage increased risk and reduced liquidity. From my experience and observation, during calm periods, Questrade’s spreads are usually stable and generally align with other reputable brokers. Yet, during major data releases or surprise geopolitical developments, I've noticed more frequent requotes, wider spreads, and sometimes even platform slowdowns, as reflected in some user feedback. For me, this means risk management during volatile sessions requires careful planning, as wider spreads increase trading costs and can interfere with stop-loss and take-profit executions. In short, Questrade does not provide fixed spreads, and traders should expect variable spreads that can expand when volatility spikes—especially around news. Being mindful of this behavior allows me to better plan my trades and avoid unwelcome surprises during turbulent markets.
From my own experience exploring Questrade as a forex and multi-asset platform, I can confirm that Questrade provides a free demo account option. This has been especially valuable to me for familiarizing myself with their proprietary trading environments, such as Questrade Global and Questrade Edge, before risking any capital. The demo account closely resembles the live trading experience in terms of order execution and market data, letting me test out strategies and the platform’s features. However, I have noticed there is limited publicly available detail about the exact restrictions or time limits imposed on these demo accounts. While most comparable brokers often limit demo access to a period—such as 30 or 90 days—Questrade’s terms aren’t specified upfront. Based on my observations and user feedback, I was able to access demo functionality without upfront fees or deposit requirements, but I recommend preparing for the possibility of expiry or account closure if inactive for an extended period, which is fairly standard in this industry. For me, the benefit here is clear: demo access supports risk management and platform proficiency without initial financial commitment. Still, because policies can be updated, I always suggest that traders clarify current demo account limitations directly with Questrade’s customer service to prevent unexpected disruptions. This is a conservative, trust-building approach I take with any broker, and one I advise to any trader, experienced or learning.

A poche settimane di distanza dalla prova di un account demo per un mese, ho aperto un account reale mini. Rispetto ad altri broker, l'apertura di un conto su QuestradeFX richiede una grande quantità di documenti. Non mi piace la loro piattaforma di trading basata su Java su web, è troppo lenta all'avvio. Non supporta l'hedging e non mostra i tassi di rollover, che è fastidioso per il carry trade. I grafici e il servizio clienti sono accettabili. Ho scelto QuestradeFX perché posso trasferire facilmente fondi dal mio conto di trading azionario, che è anche aperto presso Questrade. Una volta acquisita sufficiente esperienza, se i problemi sopra menzionati non vengono risolti e non viene aggiunto un sistema automatizzato (come Metatrader), considererò di passare ad altre piattaforme.

Ho un conto TFSA su Questrade, deposito denaro ogni anno ma non faccio transazioni, finché ricordo che le commissioni per gli ordini di mercato sono il doppio degli ordini limitati, non c'è problema. Inizialmente stavo pensando di aprire un conto di trading normale, ma i commenti qui mi hanno fatto cambiare idea. Spero che Questrade prenda in considerazione questi commenti e migliori il servizio.
